Who taught me how to read, and name?

Somehow this question has been running in my mind for the last few days. No. Probably all through my life. Connected with it is the question of how many times I must get something wrong in order to change my thinking, and my naming or knowledge.
The more I think about it, the more I realize that no one taught me, or is teaching or is supposed to teach me how to read or name. Education is about stimulating myself to read better, and to name better or 'correctly'.
One should speak or write to educate himself, and to provide others with adequate stimulus to educate themselves. This, somehow goes against common belief about democracy, or even religion or 'institution'. Like 'learning institutions' will tend to be against learning. And seeking majority vote is perverting human dignity and life. To speak to get a vote is an act of betrayal and dehumanization.
How I wish I had learned this earlier.

Why do people listen? If people listen then they listen to preserve themselves.

Why do people listen? If people listen then they listen to preserve themselves. I think it's to hear and to be heard and self preservation plays a vital role in it.I agree but I leave it open to the possibility of something more. To be heard because we want a reflection of our 'self' or our projection in pursuit of preservation of the self. It's difficult to listen to someone who doesn't say something that resonates with you on some level. To hear because it seems a natural state to receive/expect stimuli. But also because we have to be open to the possibility that hearing something might preserve life(let me not use self). I think a balance is needed to avoid only wanting to be heard.
