Am sure all parents would choose the private uni. Even those shouting loudest here against a C getting to Uni.

Then after graduation the parent would try to use his/her connections to help the young man/woman get a job. That is how life is....we try to do the best for our kids.

Very rough, Imagine lecturing a bunch of students whose absorption level is below 30% and have spend hours with tutors trying to conceptualize simple computations.

The only thing that lights up the face of the lecturer is the fat cheque at the end of the month otherwise our mental facilities would be full of our poor Profs.

One of the Profs used to refer to those students 'As students on HPS (Hire Purchase System)'

I find it interesting that Kenyans with low grades and average performance (C, C-) make it abroad(US & UK)

You hear the guy who wasn't grasping back then now has two masters degrees while another has a phd.

Aren't our universities copying this to make more money as they save parents the expense of educating someone in the west?

Why are people obsessed with evaluation and grades?FYI Finland has the best education system in the world and its not centered on evaluation and assessments

The Finnish education system is centered on late start to schooling for children, a lack of focus on examinations, more recess time, more teachers, and strict rules and limits for private schools

The government doesn't(read JAB) chose for you what course to pursue but its up to the student to chose

Quote:
After their nine-year basic education in a comprehensive school, students at the age of 16 may choose to continue their secondary education in either an academic track (lukio) or a vocational track (ammattikoulu), both of which usually take three years. Tertiary education is divided into university and university of applied sciences (ammattikorkeakoulu, formerly known as polytechnic) systems. Universities award licentiate- and doctoral-level degrees. Formerly, only university graduates could obtain higher (postgraduate) degrees, however, since the implementation of the Bologna process, all bachelor degree holders can now qualify for further academic studies. There are 17 universities and 27 universities of applied sciences in the country.

Education is important, but it is not measured by grades and certificates, real education should be measured by what you can do with what you've learnt. Anything else is just a piece of paper.
