I agree with you. If someone attains a D but takes remedial courses before enrolling in college, let them be. You do not have to condemn an individual for the rest of their lives just because they attained a D in their O-level exams.

These fellows get a degree after 4 years, wait till you meet some of them and you will agree that there is a problem!!!

The problem is not actually the D but the quality and standards at the Universities. I have seen A students who can not perform and below average D "material" who are diligent and very productive. You meet some of these A students after graduation and you wonder what happened to our Universities or how the hell they managed to graduate.

The bright people who get D in most cases can't afford these Universities, these are real Ds my friend......dunderheads!!!!

So sad just to imagine that the likes of USIU are also in muddle!

Pray Pray Pray

Where do you want those who get strong D+ to go and their parants have the money? smile

and to imagine that the complaining impunity is also a beneficiary of this.

Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Are you implying that Impunity got a strong D?

nope. he got an 'e' and he was heard boasting that it is better than an 'a 'as 'e' stands for efficient. he only got a strong 'd' after he was convinced to repeat form four.

The problem is that even public universities now have bridging programmes to help weak students get admission into module II, parallel, ADP etc. And they do not indicate in the degree certificate whether student was JAB or parallel.

But with so many graduates who scored A and B at form 4, why would employers choose to hire those who had C and C- and then complain endlessly? Attending the university for 4 yrs doesn't turn a person from C to A material, they are still inherently C grade.

The universities are better positioned to determine who qualifies for admission, non of the mentioned universities admit the c+ and below grade students directly, they have to go through some form of certification first.

Do you know how to read?
If so then look at the CHE site.
Its C+ minimum then you can go bridge may be Maths and Sciences.
But you CANNOT bridge a mean score of D-.

Shame on you Shame on you Shame on you Shame on you

I mentioned some form of certification, not bridging - if you read the article carefully you will realize that the universities provide a certificate or diploma course before enrolling the students for the degree programmes.

and for your information from the Commission for University Education;

Quote:

Applicants for recognition of Bachelor’s Degree qualifications must have obtained either
- KCSE with a minimum aggregate grade of C+ and above or its equivalent, or
- Diploma from a recognized tertiary institution with a minimum aggregate grade at credit level, or
- KCSE Mean Grade C (plain) or equivalent plus a Post-Secondary Certificate and Diploma from a recognized institution, or
- ‘O’ Level Division II or equivalent plus a Post-Secondary Certificate and a Diploma from a recognized institution, or
- ‘A’ Level with two Principal passes and a subsidiary, or
- Pre-University course as a qualification for University entrance

that is if you know how to read.
