Boss, the days of chivalrous knights are long gone! That's why we have police officers! You'd be a fool to fight someone / some people who, not only has a gun, but has shown a ready willingness to use it. You'll just get shot and that's IT!
A better question would be how quickly they went to her aid to get her medical attention.
