I am amused at how people are trying to highlight negative aspects of this appointment. Ooh those loud mouthed JJs, Ooh they are tribal ooh they look down upon people with lower academic qualifications. If you are not happy just say it.

I am not happy - Sad

Thanks for confirming what we already knew. Who's next?

This is a great move by PORK.

What will MJ do different?

Offer his Governance and Leadership skills to the loud mouth JJ profs in that University!

Hopefully he will do things differently. Chancellors are mainly ceremonial, and have very little to do with affairs of the university. Just like Chandaria was appointed the chancellor of Technical university (former Kenya poly), nothing has changed much..

Seems this appointment brought some good feel vibes.

To the reality now, tell me a single Chancellor that 'revolutionized' a single university in Kenya. The answer is none.

Chancellors are like the ceremonial board chairmen of companies. The person that matters the most is the VC.

Day to day running of an institution is what makes or breaks them. Can't you see that, people?

Well said, the vcs are the Ceos.
Allow me to give Olives work @ Ku as an example; visionary leadership.

According to an acquaintance, Mr Joseph is a director at Vodafone and lives in the UK now though he is spotted in Kenya now and then.
It is not necessary for him to be at Maseno grounds to guide it to great heights; All that is needed is vision, discipline, good policy and then he hires tough and competent lieutenants to enforce it...meetings via video conference
