My dear @Aguytrying, let us be very practical here and leave theories as we are here to make money or grow our portfolios.
Mid cap stocks practically has 2 charasteristics :-
(i) Market cap is not high relative to other counters
(ii) Pays miserly dividend as most profits are retained for growth.
Market Cap = No of issued share X the current stock price
HFCK
Issued Shares = 235,700,000
My Average entry Price Aug 2013 = 24.75 bob
Market Cap then 5.816 Billion Shillings
My 1 year target price = 48 bob
Market cap then (if no split or bonus)=235700,000 X 48 = 11.31 Billion shillings
QUESTION
(A)What is the ideal market cap for big cap, mid cap stock in NSE? NO ANSWER
Is 11.3B market cap stock a mid cap or a large cap ?
( B ) Has HFCK been paying good dividend? Yes.
Then it does not behave like a mid cap stock
or it is about to transform to big cap stock.
Do the same Panafric that has 96,000,000 issued shares my entry price was 58 bob and it will reach 150 bob later this year. Compare the market cap then, the past behavior in terms of income (dividend). Does it behave as a typical mid cap stock ? YES OR NO
