I know I will be labeled a traitor but ... As much as I wanted to, I didn't think 12 years was an award worthy movie. I am yet to find anyone who shares the same thought so I am assuming people like this movie only because it told "our" story. How do you decide what's a good movie or what's not? Do you look at the acting, cinematography, editing, music etc. or only the story? Lupita and Ejiofor did a good enough job but something was missing for me.

Its definitely a great start n there is a whole future for her ahead. But the movie itself is nothing great to write home about. Whipping, whipping n more whipping...very many lengthy silent scenes...too predictable. Not really a 'nice' movie IMO.
