Sometimes it boils to the way you carry yourself, i once to pietermaritzburg SA and entered a white only pub, everyone was amused but I went on and asked for frosty waters and know what they served with dignity. am a regular at artcaffe village market and westgate and with some noisy friends we get served so fast so as not to cause chaos, infact one of the supervisors at westgate whenever he sees us he sends guys there so fast simply because one day we gave him a dressdown and made him know how we feel. The Jungus were just staring at us but we didnt brink our eyes. The same day we went up at that ka-joint at westgate and these guys were like not looking at us, one of my lady friends called the supervisor and told him to go down to artcaffe and ask who he is serving. We fell down laughing and he realised it was not bizna as usual, he personally served us. But anyway for sure if you are black like me and go to those jungu visited places the services are not usual till when you speak out.

Thats the price everywhere it only covers the saucy meat and even sometimes doesnt cover chips and salads.which is ok to me

A number of people who've tried to be local/domestic tourists probably have similar experiences to relate in various establishments. This unfairness, unfortunately, being perpetrated by fellow black Kenyans.

I have been to both Java and Artcaffe's (various ones) and I do not hesitate to wave over the head waiter and be very clear that I expect service to begin with and that I will tip based on quality of service. Some people respond...others don't. In any event, I sit on any area that does not have a clear, "reserved" sign and NEVER hesitate to raise my voice if I am even a little bit unhappy. Restaurants hate embarrassment in front of other clients more than ANYTHING else. Be clear and fair in your assessment. Finally...remember that all these waiters / waitresses are on MINIMUM wage and probably had to beg for their jobs despite good qualifications, etc. THEY WORK FOR TIPS! So don't go to an upmarket place expecting not to tip AT LEAST 10% of your spend. That's just CHEAP! You can go to lots of other places with similar food (eggs, meat , booze, friends, music, etc.) But this is a high-end establishment. plan your spending accordingly!

What Immoral activity? Other than the Croissant scandal I have never heard of anything. Tell us here bwana @Mawinder.
