Most asinine suggestion yet. Why stop at airports? They should require it when you board a mat before they process your beba pay payment

I heard from a source that by the end of the year, the ga'arment will be requiring KRA Tax Compliance Certificates for individuals at the airports before one can fly.

Anyone with more info on this?

Is it a practice in any other country?

I was at KRA when Matiang'i said he will suggest this to the govt. KRA was on that day launching an ICT product n so he hoped the KRA records could be digitally connected with immigration so that if you are being cleared to travel the first condition would be that you must have cleared with KRA. I never heard of it again but I dont know how it can be implemented.

very easy...

Legal implications?

Complicated. Not every Kenyan travelling out of Kenya has tax obligations in Kenya. The key words are RESIDENT and INCOME. If you are not a Kenyan tax resident you dont even need to get a PIN. If a Kenya resident but never earned an income, bought property you dont need to get a PIN.
Life is short. Live passionately.

You misunderstood me WaP. Anyone in government who comes up with such a policy must be quite daft.

At this rate you will need a HELB certificate to travel.

and you misunderstand wap. what he/she means is that even absolute idiots cannot come up with such a daft policy and linking it to them is spoiling their good name.

They yanked the story. Maybe because Business Daily was running this more upbeat one:
