Just watched Larry Madowo's interview with michael joseph. Mj said that they're already connected to sea com and that you should have noticed higher speeds from last friday. Cost is not likely to come down as they still need to recover money on capital investments

Any corporate customer currently connected via KDN as the backhaul provider and Safaricom as the Internet provider is enjoying super speeds....KDN has a fiber link all the way to Safaricom and most corporate customers have been 'wired' by KDN to connect to Safaricom for VPN or internet access...this allows for a fiber connection all the way to the Net thus the higher speeds....

Also all customers should be generally enjoying better speeds.....the time it takes to fetch a webpage from the net using seacom as compared to using satellte is far much faster.

The thing about testing the POP's and stuff was concluded on Friday and all through the weekend, the Seacom fiber has been in use......

I just tried to browse internet with my Safcon modem. I am on Ngong Road and on edge. still got the same speeds as before...did not notice any difference. I am now going to try browsing with Butterfly wi-fi from KDN. Will let you know if i see any speed increase.

I'm in Industrial Area,Nairobi.
No change in safcom modem speeds,in fact it's below 5 kbps as usual.
I don't know why i bought this gadget,it's a total waste!

OK. since we are all not sure whether we have broadband or not, lets start compiling our figures. let's try and ping both local and international servers and check the milliseconds it takes. (you can use speedtest.net)

Am pinging mumbai,it takes 1531milliseconds,
atlanta takes 601 ms,
KDN takes 5 ms.

so Am connected to KDN but definitely not on seacom yet.
