What will matter most is storage. What are the plans?

True...sometime back there was some bumper harvest in one of this irrigation schemes and most of the food went to waste.

The biggest problem with gok is that when it thinks about food, it just thinks about maize. What about wheat, rice, potato etc. Even other crops such as soybean, canola, sugarbeet, barley, cotton, sorghum, millet etc should be promoted to reduce reliance on imports of products eg cooking oil, sugar etc.

Why don't the millers buy the maize directly and bring the price of unga down? Does all the maize have to go thro Ncpb?

In 5-10yrs the effects of these initiatives will be evident. Given performance so far, I am not too worried about Central Govt. in development but insecurity is at a runaway level. Seeing the police vetting tells you how far we have to go.

I like the CiC time based demand for performance from the Cabinet and Principal Secretaries. The honeymoon and induction period is over!

On Counties, these Governors are a worrying lot, example, What has Dr Kidero done for Nairobi since he came into office?..Maybe F. Waititu wasn't a bad option after all. Tofauti ni nini?? nkt

Capacity ......

We need private investors licenced and facilitated to develop more storage facilities. The millers only buy so much at a time hence cannot absorb everything.

Farmers on the other hand want to dispose them fast due to insecurity.End result is dipressed prices due yo oversupply at some given time.

ION..there is a new storage facility operating in Nakuru and Kitale/Eldoret (not sure). One can refer farmers there.
