Gay rights are indeed Human rights. I just read Warigi's article and it is as homophobic as it gets. I cant believe he thinks his stance is better than Ugandans yet he writes a condescending , patronizing article on gays.
And no one is shoving anything in anyones face. Gays just want to be recognized and left alone. When teachers protest in the street to demand higher pay, are they shoving it in anyones face ?
blah blah blah... we don't accept that kind of behavior
on this continent - deal with it.
Who is we ?
I hope you realize that gay marriage is legal in SA.
I hope you realize that a significant number of urbane Kenyans actually have no problems with gays.
If you do not accept that kind of behavior then speak for yourself. Dont count everyone as a homophobic.
Oh and BTW, a very high proportion of Kenyans engage in gay behavior. There have been stories all over the media about boys and girls but especially girls in boarding engaging in lesbianism. So your notion of "we dont accept blah blah blah" is bogus.
The tide of gay rights is unstoppable.
The mere fact that Kenya has a gay lobby which was unthinkable even a decade ago is proof positive that the tide is unstoppable. In another 10 years , it is the homophobes who will be hiding. Deal with it. your are probably right. in perhaps 10 years or perhaps 20! but as of now! that will not happen. legalizing it does not help the case as seen is SA with the violence that did not exist before this thing was pushed to the forefront, India rolled back the law while the people who vilified it all over their colonies are preparing to institute it. the fact is this, shouting about it in 3rd world countries MAKES IT WORSE!!
I am not saying gay marriage should be legalized any time soon. I am saying gay people should be left alone and warigi types should stop writing nonsensical articles that are thinly veiled homophobia.
I also think that laws criminalizing gay behavior should be removed from the books. A country like Kenya whose prisons are overflowing with real criminals should not be wasting time prosecuting people for gay behavior. Our overworked Police and judges should be focused on real crimes instead of wasting time with nonsense like whether someone is gay or not.
With regard to making it worse, quite frankly gays should not care. I know people will resist. Change is always difficult. When blacks in South Africa were protesting apartheid, they were also told the same thing. "
protesting will make things worse". That did not stop them.
And we Kenyans have much bigger fish to fry. Kenyans are sick tribalists and our politicians are the worst culprits why dont Kenyans focus on ending tribalism which is a real and present danger instead of trivial mambo like the gay agenda which literally hurts nobody ?
Heck if hate-mongers like Warigi penned articles addressing real issues like tribalism, we would be much better off.
