US treasuries bolt above 3% on taper expectations,at 3.02% ATM. EUR/USD at 1.3687smile
FEd's Bernanke speech tomorrow at 1930GMT. Waiting with bated breathe.
What becomes of Emerging markets in 2014? What becomes of the EUR if ECB decides to flood the Euro to counter deflationary pressures?

US & UK 10yr bond yields have scaled above 3%. My overall expectation for 2014 has not changed in terms of a high probability of a sucker stocks rally. Risk management will be key this year as volatility will damage portfolios.

Roger that @nabwire. Saw some volume spikes towards year end in global stocks. Volatility is on cards this year...

@murchr - Been waiting for these thunderous/earth shuttering bearish headlines on gold. In 2013 Cyprus got bailed in, Iran slipped sanctions using gold, gold suddenly crashed, 10yr bond yields of a funny nation scaled 3% as its stock mart scaled all time highs post GFC, a funny govt got shutdown in Oct, bitcoin went ballistic and all is 'well'.

2014 looks like the 'Breaking Bad' TV sequel and begins with Turkey getting overcooked...

My gut feeling about bitcoin is that, yes it looks like a bubble about to happen, yes some governments are rejecting it but I think it will hang around for long. It recently technically found support around 700 and has resumed uptrend to recent 900, I think it will rally higher and higher as people continue to call it a scam possibly to 10000 before crashing down. If at all there were bitcoin futures, I wouldn't advice shorting it for all its worth right now
On a long enough timeline, the life expectancy of everyone drops to zero.

That's the point. History rewriting takes a while. But between 150 - 300 yrs timeframe an event comes up and forces things to shake/reshape. Just like market cycles.

Dec 23 2013 - 100yrs of Fed bank funny money... The globalization empire is very shaky...

Aah, all too familiar. Dr. Gono was god till 2009 - both locally & globally. During hyper-inflation & monetary action, the fiscal dept. was of little prominence . Then dollarization came into play & Hon. Biti, now Hon. Chinamasa back at the finance ministry in Zim is all the rave. Spot the difference?? ;-)

Quote:
Investors in Blackstone (BX) Group LP’s debut sale of bonds backed by U.S. rental homes are agreeing to accept more risk than in traditional mortgage deals by at least two measures -- along with an unproven business.
