And this is not rocket science!
If we can clean up football [and other sports] then there is a lot of money to be made! If football is properly managed then we'll have good players [instead of talented individuals "thinking beyond football"] we'll get people back into the stadiums, sponsors, TV deals etc.
If we can get 30,000 people into a stadium [It happens in Tanzania every week!] paying an average of 200/= each, that is a cool 6,000,000/=. Even when you have 15,000 people, that is a cool 3,000,000. Add sponsors - of course businesses/institutions would jump at the opportunity to be associated with a team in a properly run, widely followed league. Then there is TV deals, merchandizing - T-Shirts, Caps, Scarfs etc.
Now how much do you think we would be able to pay players in such an environment. Kshs. 100,000/= per month - easily!!! Heck, even if some players get 50,000/= per month that's a very good start. And that is before bonuses, allowances when you play for the national team etc. And there is always a chance you might end up in a better paying league where your Kshs. 100,000/= a month can easily turn to £100,000/= a month [Or a week if you a really good!!!]. And we haven't even talked about endorsements - from fiatu fyako to Nike!!!
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.
