Is there anyone who has bought a unit from them at the port of entry i.e. Mombasa. Lately they have been shipping the units up to Mombasa and other ports. Is the process any easier and less complicated as compared to buying the unit from their offices in Japan?

I think it's for "non-Kenyans" i.e. for other markets like TZ though not sure.

When you click on Mombasa on their site you get to see arrivals for vehicles manufactured way back in 1995, 1996, 1997..... Which market are they supplying these?

I think they are a range of manufacture dates in the units they ship. I recently got a schedule from one of their sales agents with manufacture dates ranging from 1990's to 2010. It could be the ones over 8 years old are for non-Kenya markets but the ones within 8 years since manufacture date can be sold in Kenya.

In addition, the account manager indicated to me that some of those units are meant for the Kenya market. What am not sure about is the process and whether its any better as compared to self importation from Japan.

I have previously imported a car with SBT and the experience was ok but on my second purchase i reserved a car and later changed my mind about the unit. Now they have been asking me to sign an affidavit to change the name on the BL. Has anyone of you heard of this process????

Just thought its wise to warn Kenyans here iam a car seller and i source all my cars from SBT japan. For one year i have had no problem with them until now when i ordered 5 units worth 32700usd and paid 4 units in full. My cars move very fast so i had factored thet i would clear the already paid units sell within 2wks(i do it every time) and then pay sbt balance for the 5th unit which arrives 10th oct a mere 5800usd but walas i was wrong the 4 fully paid units have arrived and sbt has declined to release the documents of even 1 unit until the 1 in the high seas is paid for. I have gone ahead and paid the 5th unit in full but still no documents this is a warning dont fall victim.

@premio I need some advice from you kindly contact me via tikariuki@gmail.com

SBT is a complete useless company...Please KEEP OFF SBT. I bought 3 demios from them while on ship...up to now they haven't sent the documents and even the scanned copies..this means that i can't pay the IDF....Yet the ship arrived on 19th dec. Keep away from this unreliable company!!!!!
Shame on you
