No point in chickening and taking easy draws. The tough teams gotta face somebody too. There is a lot of noise about the draw. What no one is pointing is that Bayern were beaten 2-0 last season by Arsenal at Allianz. They were red hot then and fair enough,Arsenal will knock them out.......If there is a team i would have wanted to avoid at all costs,it was Atletico.Thank God.

Nayern had already qualified and went on to win the cup, just like they had already qualified when they were beaten by City. In fact it seems City players didn't know that had they scored another goal to make it 4-2 they would have qualified Top of the group and avoided Barca.

Shame on you

No they hadn't qualified, it was the knock-out phase not group stage. One more goal from Arsenal would have knocked them out......if we had scored the 2 goal early on in the second half i believe we would have gone on grab the all important third goal. Anyway that's in the past now, we have another opportunity to correct the mistakes we made in the first leg at the Emirates.

In the same breath, I hope you also believe that, against aseno had Napoli scored their 2 goals early, then they would have scored the vital third to eliminate aseno from CL knock-out stage.

In soccer matters hakuna mambo ya "if" na "kubelieve". Kama haikutendeka basi haikutendeka.

I was responding to @Smano statement on Bayern but i agree if Napoli had scored the 3rd goal we would have been knocked out. Anyway since you've brought up the issue of "if" in football, maybe you should start with your dependable left back, Evra!

"If you calculate Southampton, Cardiff and the game against West Bromwich, if we won those three games, we could have been top of the league," said Patrice Evra, with a certain amount of "if my auntie was my uncle" logic.

The third goal is not the issue.

Have looked at the fixtures and Arsenal will be in real trouble if they knock out Bayern. The games leading into the quarter final tie are City, Chelsea and Spurs. No chance to rest players which could mean losing in all fronts.

@Kaka2za.....It will be a tough period for Arsenal but you should also look at the fixtures involving the other top clubs, no team will have it easy around that time, there's also the FA Cup you know. As @Smano said so many things can change between now and Feb/March/April.....injuries, new signings, dropping points against the minnows. Its expected that Wenger will be busy in the Jan transfer market especially with the difficult fixtures in mind. We'll definitely get another striker, defensive midfielder and probably a defender so squad rotation should not be a problem.

@TAZ plz don't bank on January transfer because very few stars if any will be available. Hope returning players esp Poldoski and Ox will provide options. However Wenger is not good at rotation,Vermale Mon Gnabry and Mineral have played few games and are rusty

Wenger is not a fan of squad rotation and i totally agree with him, i think its important to establish your starting 11. Look at Man Utd, Moyes is a bit clueless on that front.....Mourinho also had a problem at the start of the season but now it seems he's settled on some players. TV5 still lacks match fitness, he'll now get a chance since Koscielny will be out for about 2 games. Gnabry is a bit inexperienced to start an EPL, he's more of an impact player. Anyway Poldi, Walcott and Ox will all be back soon plus we still have Carzola and Rosicky on the bench.

On the issue of Jan transfer market, well we are heading into a World cup year, players will be available because they want to earn a call up in their National teams. Besides someone like Lewandoski is in his last year at Dortmund which means they have to sell in Jan or he'll walk free in May.....Real are interested in him. Benzema is another player who will be available and i have a feeling Benteke will also be in the market. IMO he would be a good signing because unlike other top strikers he'll not be Cup tied in the CL. Thats the only position which i think we will have to work hard to fill otherwise the rest (CB & DM) kuna watu wengi sana available.

Mitoglu will struggle to cope with intensity of EPL .
Song? The Song we know or another? No way! He was sold because of bad attitude and truancy. Always turning up late for training.
Benteke signed a contract extension and Villa will demand over 30M which Arsene won't pay.
Take it from me, Arsene will sign two unknown players from the French League and may be add the Barca teenager.
Let us compare notes in Feb!

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages.....

Drumroll please.....

The most elite competition ii football is back!!!

Here's Miguel Delaney's thoughts on who he thinks will emerge favourites...

http://espnfc.com/blog/_...nsleague/id/694?cc=3888

Let me not talk about tomorrow's big match, as much as I'm eager, hehe...

Man City could have fancied an upset if they'd met Barca a month ago I reckon. Unfortunately they meet them when they're getting their stride back and with Messi just having broken the scoring record for a one club man. I'm almost certain Barca will score an away goal and then fully capitalize at the Camp Nou. I doubt Pellegrini will sit back and hope to hit on the counter and for that reason the tie favours Barca. With Aguerro out, their firepower has been dented but at least Fernandinho is back. If they make use of their aerial advantage in Negredo, they can beat Barca in set pieces but over a 2 legged tie I'm not sure it will be enough. Barca is still Barca.

As for tomorrow's game (I couldn't resist), I think goons would have had a better chance had Bayern not lost their last group game to City, though they had already qualified. I think that game reminded them they're human and cannot underestimate an opponent. If they get their heads in front early, I can't rule out a drubbing from a team that's being considered the likeliest to ever come close to retaining the title. They just look imperious from back to front and all around. But then again, this is football...........psyche!!!
