Great to see Centum reading in between the mischief REA holdings were about to carry out. I am all for these deals being scattered,even Centum's offer is peanuts.The minority shareholders should open their eyes and see what they are being offered is no where near fair value.

Why is these thefts by foreigners rubber-stamped by CMA and in the long haul GoK year in year out and it is the Wanjikus who suffer. Surely why cant it be a rule that before you de-list proper vaulation is carried out. CROOKS/THIEVES!!!!! Thieves

Its the land.........I don't think Centum are interested in farming sisal. The over 10000 acres at Rea Vipingo even at a conservative Ksh 1M per acre values the share at about Ksh 200. Factor in Kibwezi and TZ acreage plus the retained earnings minus debts and you realise even Ksh 400 (10 times the initial offer price) would be a steal. The valuation of this company as far as a takeover is concerned should not be based on the 6 months share price average plus some token but on the value of the balance sheet and in particular the land at play. Am happy Centum is putting in a fight for the locals whose assets are almost going for a song. Happy hunting. I am going to add more of Centum, cross my fingers and hope they succeed in their bid. Vipingo Ridge bought some sisal estate at KShs 30k per acre 7 years ago but are selling at KShs 14m per acre after building the golf course. Centum would just need to spin off 1000 acres out of the more than 10,500 Rea Vipingo land neighbouring the Vipingo Ridge, do a similar project and raise enough to pay off any loan they might take to purchase the company. I feel cheated and betrayed. I was actually planning to hold my vipingo shares long term and to be used as my retirement security. I travelled to mombasa last year to see land that stima Sacco was selling in vipingo opposite the ridge at 1.8m per 1/4 acre and land sold by rea vipingo to the vipingo ridge is going for over 20m for the same size of plot. Not only is land scarce but the value has ripened and these buyers are exploiting innocent minority shareholders. Can't the share holders protest? Isn't CMA supposed to protect the rights of shareholders? Will theft just allow the big fish to swallow us alive? Do we not have the right to retain our minority holding regardless who owns the majority shares.can they force us to sell? Shouldn't their offer be in parallel to the net asset value of the share which should be over Kshs 3000 per share? Based on just land value leave alone performance of the company. Pls advise. Even reading Alykhan Satchu's article this is a rip off they are buying our land at 43 thousand Kshs an acre. This is day light robbery can't we appeal for justice????

By the way I don't recall getting any compensation in terms of a special dividend when vipingo sold some of its land to vipingo ridge. Does the company not require the shareholders consent when disposing off fixed assets and should they not have compensated shareholders after sale of that parcel of land?

The Robinows will not sell their shares to Centum. Centum is just attempting to keep REA at NSE. Knock hard and it will be opened. Ask and you will be answered. Seek and you shall find.

The two brothers are clear on what they want to do...thats to keep growing Sisal...I'm against this idea of killing Kenya's biggest forex earner for the sake of real estate....the Agricultural sector apart from being a big forex earner it employs thousands...should this jobs be lost because of greed?!

Game still not over yet , another suitor proposes a price of sh. 55 per share.. AIB values the the share at Sh168.72 "AIB Capital in a research note released yesterday said the total estimated value of land before adjusting for illiquidity discount, stands at Sh15.46 billion, pointing to the allure that the three bidders could be responding to. We assumed a 30 per cent illiquidity discount on the sale of land, accounting for Sh4.64 billion, therefore reducing value to Sh10.82 billion before accounting for liabilities,” said the report authored by research analyst Parshva Shah. From REA Vipingo half-year 2013 results, the firm’s total liabilities stood at Sh701.81 million. I cant recall any research firm offering coverage on RVP! 3. For me I rather have Ksh40 now than wait 2 years and not receive Ksh50...the opportunity cost is too high. Coz Trust me any bid apart from those two brothers will not succed. 4. Whats the point of having a relisted RVP with a divided board? Because Centum & the two brothers are clearly not on the same page in terms of strategy!
