There are several IT professional certifications courses; among them Cisco,Microsoft,Unix/Linux,ITIL,ICDL,Oracle and many others. On the other hand there are MBA courses,which one among these courses would be recommended for one with a bachelors degree in Computer Science & Engineering and has interest in telecommunication industry? Would appreciate referals on the best colleges,costs and experiences.

My appreciation.

Go to AFRALTI on waiyaki way

Institute of Software Technology - I & M House - CISCO,Oracle and Linux (Red Hat) certified - I think you can even get an Oracle MBA or sthg like that.

I am indeed grateful for the responses so far . please keep them comin' ...I have been working for two years as a system admin in one of the post conflict countries in Africa,for a multinational. My contract ends in December. I believe a soft landing would be to enroll for the professional certifications as I look for another job.

Kindly advice a mate.

What is your area of intrest in IT since its a broad field? My suggestion is;
Computer Networking: CCNA -> CCIP -> CCIE
Unix/Linux Admin -> RHCE
Database Admin -> OCA -> OCP -> OCA

I also advocate for self study for this courses.

I have an undergraduate in Computer Science and Engineering coupled with five years in administration of windows server 2003 domain enviroment,and network administration; i.e I have been the one guy in the IT department that does everything. I however feel like,I want to move to more serious and specialised stuff.......keep the advice flowing. my thanks to the contributors so far.

since u r already a network admin,i would suggest that you pursue CCNA. firstly,i gauge that you can learn independently from cbtnuggets CCNA videos to sharpen your skills. if you are keen enough you can source for these video clips (about 50 of them) very easily from the internet (begin with CCENT first). learning through this method will not be hard since you already possess the skills of a network admin and i assume u have handled routers and switches to a large extent. then instead of paying for the course,you can pay only for the exams and attain certification.

Your experience solely on a windows platform may present a major hurdle in a career in telecommunication. I therefore suggest taking a full Unix/Linux course since many core networks of major companies run on these systems. All the best.
