The difference in duty between 2.5L Diesel (KDH)and the 2.0L Petrol (TRH) is over 250k. Thats a lot of cash.

Quick question for those who have imported lately (Prime...) With the new rules barring individuals from operating. Who do you specify as the consignee on the bill of lading when importing the vehicle? Is it you or your Sacco/company? Also is there a deadline for registering the 14 seaters or will it still happen next year? Thanks @matatuman. Good concerns too. I believe the SHARKS will continue being registered come next year. I urgently need an ans to issue of consignee as I have just won a unit in Japan Auction today! Have it in your name. Otherwise you will have sold your car to the sacco. It will still be registered but you will have to belong to a sacco. Thats my take. Now on an urgent issue. Hope the shark is not a 2006 unit because it is definitely late to import a 2006 car because the last ship leaves japan today 7th dec, to arrive on 30th dec. If it is a 2007 unit then I hope it is a january of february unit. otherwise hiyo duty utalipa!! woooii! if its a march unit then request them to hold till feb before shipping. What company did you use for the auction?

Kawaida is usually about 1000-1500/= payable at KRA halafu unaenda kwa inspection department with that official receipt. 10. TLB = 2,500/= p.a. Do not forget, too, that the speed governor cert has to be renewed annually, the sticker displayed on windscreen and the cert produced when applying for, or renewing TLB. Rankaz income figures tally with mine. Over time i have noticed that the net income you get depends on your driver i.e. how lazy or thieving he is. My vehicles ply the Muranga Nairobi route. @Prime. The 17k for the back windows should be for both, when i did it it cost me 7k each, total 14. @Prime: Lucky you got a manual. Maybe we should all share info on the exporters we have relied on on CIF prices, i noticed they tend to overprice units if you are not a dealer. I have brought mine from Tomisho and Al Ain Japan.

The switch is entirely up to you, the wiring guy atakuwekea kile unataka. Personally, I don't have it as it's not worth the risk. Hiyo fine siwesmek buana. Cash collections are ordinarily up to you as the operator. You may choose to have the SACCO as your agent, or get it directly from your employees. Thanks matatuman. At least I have a good idea on what I should negotiate to.Is yours a shuttle or normal mat? As fir the manual transmission, ilikuwa ni bahati. I think what we should now focus on more is on who has the best auction terms. What I can tell you is that papera is a no-go zone when it comes to auctions. Their commissions are way too high. You cant even beat the rates they offer for their units. Which beats the purpose of the auctoin in the first place. Let me check out Tomisho and al ain.

Mine are shuttle operated. I started out as normal matatus but i almost commited murder. Drivers fleece you proper. Something i notice you haven't factored in your budget is a tracker. I suggest you go with Tramigo, gives you trip reports so you dont have to call your driver asking how many trips he has done. Its only 20k and saves you lots of headaches. I haven't had the guts to use the auction yet by myself but i have been checking out Trade Haus Logistics (auction.japantradecar.com) and they seem the cheapest by far. Only charge you a flat fee of 90K yen per unit.

They will invoice you for jevic which you must inform them 20k yyen, any inland transport fees from the auction house to the exit port(usually specified on the auction site), plus the cost of repairs if any that may be needed for your vehicle to pass jevic. 90k yen is cheap compared to others like integrity exports. Unless you know someone in Japan who can buy the vehicle for you. You also need to pay for freight and insurance since the auction price is fob. I am not sure about registration next year, I had asked the same in a previous thread. Anyone with info?

I have been told by the sacco board guys that the deadline for registration for 14 seaters is 31st dec. Mine arrives on 30th dec courtesy of papera (I bought it in early October). Guess my goose is cooked. Im racking my brains for plan B incase there will be no extension of registration. Life must go on.
