Vallerrie wrote:What? I hated 90's rap! It glorified violence too much especially those Westside Connection guys, Ice T, kina Dre,Snoop etc. My best Hip Hop era was the early 2000s. When Kanye was still College Dropout Kanye, Xhibit was still doing 'X', when Nas had that beef with Jay, when Foxxy Brown was still a rapper....I could go on and on and on...I still have my copies of The Source and Vibe magazines from back in the day. I remember how Aaliyah was in the cover of Vibe the very month she died. Such wasted talent. Even the bubble gum rappers then were more tolerable, who can forget Lil' Zane, the 502 Boyz, the No Limit crew. You just had to take me there....*sigh* Post-2000, i feel is exactly the time when Mainstream hiphop lost its direction. Guys started to put out mediocre lpz. Illmatic

Untitled and Stillmatic are my favourite Nice listen. The come back album esp Stillmatic, Reminds me of Ether & arguably one of the most celebrated hiphop beefs of our time!! Nas Vs Jay Z's Take Over/Supa Ugly.. Nas won lyrically but Jay Z won overral when Nas got signed to Def Jam. Jay Z was his President Lol, very true. Nas won the battle Jay won the war. Illmatic

I'm a huge fan of hiphop, courtesy of Greg Morey (sp) of the then Metro FM, though not loyal to any particular artiste but instead pick the best from each one of them. This has remained one of my favorites for the longest time: Life is like playing a violin solo in public and learning the instrument as one goes on.

Am not one to judge people's info by their background that's why am making reference to the guy's video with an open mind though we may not quite agree on the verses he fronts from his own belief system. The questions he asks and the observations he brings to the foreground are reason enough to cause one to be extra cautious and wary in the light of hip hop the culture. Check it out with an open mind hopefully.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X30M9h8xqVo
Just use that as a reason to get you to patiently research more on the same, because one source isn't enough to convince someone of its truth. Analyze all your findings collectively and then see what seems to conspicuous common amongst them all. I already have my conclusion which doesn't mean you have to agree with it but just check that video out then go on a research spree...

Rain man means Satan, everyone from JayZ to Kanye to Weezy to Eminem to Rihanna have lyrics paying homage to Rain man. Rihanna's Umbrella, Weezy feat Fat Joe's make it rain plus numerous Jayz tracks all pay homage to Satan. It sounds crazy, but its the truth. So far, Nassir Jones, is the only one who hasn't sold his soul, thus he is not as popular, but he is still the greatest! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCOURZ-yx4E

There's a ton of stuff on youtube, you can start with 'the truth may scare you' series. As for Rain man, Rihanna's umbrella is the one that has the most symbolism like a black umbrella is the symbol used to show that the certain artist is under Satan's protection from the "rain" Watch that video, you will see the black umbrella all over it and then think about how many other videos have the artist standing under an umbrella. There's a ton, Fat Joe make it rain, Beyoncé get me bodied, Lil Wayne, Diddy, its just that unless you know there's symbolism, you'll just assume its creativity.

I used to think like that till I did research and found all these artists do the same things like they all cover one eye, all have lots of symbolism in their videos which points to them being puppets who do as they are told. Watch Game's wouldn't get far, you'll understand that whatever you see on videos is decided for the artists, I don't know why its so hard for people to understand this. When something is done over and over, by different artists, its ceases to be coincidence. Anyways its your life, your choice, I choose not to listen to mainstream music anymore, I'd rather be safe than sorry. If you think this link is coincidence, more power to you http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnYLzcjTCe0

First, let us start by categorizing this genre into 2 fragments: the Mainstream (the all-glorifying, highly washed up side of this kind of music) and the underground (the conscious-oriented subject-pointed side).. Hiphop as a culture has always been about 4 things: MCeeing, breakdancing, Djeeing (scratching) & graffiti.. I don't have time to look for specific hip hop artists, believe me its out there. Unless you're saying JayZ is not hip hop, coz he's neck deep into that stuff with Kanye. Like I said, Nas is the only one not into that stuff at the moment.
