How should be it?

Should either create a law prohibiting one from undertaking one?

@wilyum there is no place for alcohol in Islam, we say even a social drinker, is not allowed. Islam forbids a lot of "bad" lifestyles, any kind of things that potentially unclean or lead to corrupt society.
It teaches that ‘your body has rights over you’, and the leading of a healthy lifestyle are seen as religious obligations.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be with him) said: 'Ask God for certainty [of faith] and well-being; for after certainty, no one is given any gift better than health!'

He also said:
"Whatever intoxicates in a greater quantity is also unlawful in a small quantity."

No excuse for a tot!! Out!!

Allah said in the Quran 5:90-91:
"You who believe! Intoxicants and Gambling, all are an abomination of Satan's handiwork.
Eschew such abomination, that you may prosper.
Satan's plan is (but) to excite enmity and hatred between you, with intoxicants and gambling,
and hinder you from the remembrance of God, and from prayer; will you not then abstain?
"

As a result of this Islam has created the biggest society of teetollers in the world. There over 1.5 billion Muslims in the world, and all are teetollers. They don't indulge in alcohol. These are the fruits.

So yes, religion plays a role in life of people and it should create law. If people are not following any guidelines, but Western heros "..The guy from the West. Whatever he says, we follow". As a result, we see people engaging in mpango wa kando. People when they get tipsy, they engage in ilicit affairs.
Islam encourages people to marry early to avoid falling in sin. It encourages people to avoid alcohol, alcoholism, drug abuse, prostitution, bastard children, and crime.

And also the Bible has something to say about this.
It says don't drink alcohol, it's satan's handiwork, don't gamble, don't do idle worship, don't commit adultery. It says don't wear provocative clothes, don't wear men's clothes if you're woman, and on't wear wommen's clothes if you're man. It also says Marry if you can't control your body (it didn't not say Marry only one as some people want to mislead others!!)

But the people of the book, Bible do not read the book. According to brother Jimmy Swaggart, there are 11 milion drunkards in US. That's what he said in his book. 11 million drunkards and 44 million heavy drinkers. Yes, this nation of @Kiash, the "Majuu".
And brother Jimmy Swaggart says he sees no difference between them. That means 55 million, he sees all of them to be drunkards. The only difference is, there are far enough.

And further, according to brother Jimmy Swaggart, 54 billion dollars per year, is lost in gambling!

These are the fruits.

How comes Abraham was drinking wine and he was God's great friend? How comes Jesus turned Water into wine? How comes Prophet Isaiah in Chap 25:6 says "And in this mountain shall the Lord of hosts make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined." How comes?

Noah also...

Genesis 9:20-22(NIV)
20 Noah, a man of the soil, proceeded[a] to plant a vineyard. 21 When he drank some of its wine, he became drunk and lay uncovered inside his tent. 22 Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father naked and told his two brothers outside. 23 But Shem and Japheth took a garment and laid it across their shoulders; then they walked in backward and covered their father’s naked body. Their faces were turned the other way so that they would not see their father naked.

@washiku and @safaricant, please explain the below:

New testament (time of Jesus)
1 Corinthians 6:10 - nor drunkards, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
Ephesians 5:18 says: And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery...
Proverbs 20:1 says: Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler, and whoever is led astray by it is not wise.
Proverbs 23:29-35 says: Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has strife? Who has complaining? Who has wounds without cause? Who has redness of eyes? Those who tarry long over wine; those who go to try mixed wine. Do not look at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup and goes down smoothly. In the end it bites like a serpent and stings like an adder. Your eyes will see strange things, and your heart utter perverse things.
Proverbs 31:6-7 says: Give strong drink to the one who is perishing, and wine to those in bitter distress; let them drink and forget their poverty and remember their misery no more (what an advice from the book of God!!!)
Proverbs 23:20-21 says: Be not among drunkards ... for the drunkard ... will come to poverty, and slumber will clothe them with rags.
Galatians 5:21 says: Envy, drunkenness ... and things like these. I warn you... those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
1 Peter 5:8 says: Be sober-minded; be watchful. ... the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
Romans 14:21 says: It is good not to drink wine or do anything that causes your brother to stumble.

Old testament (before Jesus)
Hosea 4:11 says: Whoredom, wine, and new wine, which take away the understanding.
Isaiah 5:11 says: Woe to those who rise early in the morning, to run after strong drink, who tarry late into the evening as wine inflames them!
Isaiah 51:21 says: hear now this, thou afflicted, and drunken, but not with wine: Thus saith your Lord, and your God pleadeth the cause of his people, Behold, I have taken out of thine hand the cup of trembling...; thou shalt no more drink it again: But I will put it into the hand of them that afflict thee, so bow down (pray like Muslims).

@alphdoti, why do you keep implying that Muslims follow everything the Quran says to the letter? I have found the few Muslims I know to be as bad if not worse than my fellow Christians. I can't tell you how many times I have been propositioned by "happily" married kanzu wearing, prayer bead carrying Muslim men. I have known this same group of people to indulged in alcohol. I have seen them mistreat their employees, bribe to get ahead, get pregnant before marriage etc then turn around and pretend to be pious praying 5 times a day and making a huge unnecessary deal out of their supposed better religion. Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Aethists etc are all simple humans first and we know that humans have weaknesses so don't make it seem like you are better than everyone.

fact is, the bible does not condemn wine. Jesus himself took wine! He told parables of wine and vineyards. The lord's table has wine! Paul, in one of his letters encourages someone (was it Timothy or Titus) to take some wine for the stomach. The bible however condemns drunkenness. Just like it condemns gluttony. Food and wine aren't evil, drunkenness and gluttony are. I wonder where the church gets the inspiration to classify 'drinking' as sin to the point of, in some cases, excommunicating worshippers
