I saw plenty of increased flights to various detinations but I don't think I saw Delhi on that list!

The last paragraph on the second link. Its states Delhi.. Thats a major destination

Delhi flights started in May 2012 or so I think. http://www.eturbonews.co...irect-flights-new-delhi So the BD quote "...Kenya Airways will fly four times a week to Delhi from Nairobi at 0220 hours local time, to arrive in Delhi at 1220 hours local time. The return flight will leave Delhi at 1405 hours local time to arrive in Nairobi at 1855 hours local time." may be about a change in the schedule NOT new or additional flights!

@vvs i imagined that there must be additional flights to Delhi. why retain same frequencies?
43 planes now at KQ enable it to definitely increase capacity on such a key trade route.. i surely hope they have added flights

Anyway, that's my reading on it. It would be good to add 4 additional flights [2x current schedule] to Delhi but somehow I doubt that's the case.

I was looking at the financial statements of KQ, they indicated under market risks that a fall in price of oil by 1% would result in derivatives profit of 144Million. Crude oil has fallen from $113 per barrel to current $93 per barrel approx 17%, accommodate for margin of error and make it 10%. Their derivative contract lasts one year between March and March 2014 covering 80% and 36% until 2015. Iran is set to increase oil supply by 3milliion per barrel next yet no OPEC country yet wants to reduce oil supply. Oil demand is expected to slow down by 300k which means that crude is likely to continue with its current downtrend which equates to huge saving in operational costs.

On another thing, KQ is positioning itself for the growth of the middle class economy. They are now facilitating low costs travels with the Jumbo jet. More earnings and recovery for the company. Government also stepped in to facilitate debt financing smile Correct me if I am wrong.

This thing I predict will be driven by speculato demand to 25 then more

Interesting view on the understanding of the derivative contracts. Believe it, many here are very green in that area smile Was there any indication of what price the hedge was pegged? We can track it.

Geo-political tensions forbearing, I agree with the oil trend projection too.

Cheers.

@mchambuzi - Is the $113 & the $93 for the same contract? There is Murban, WTI, Brent, etc. Which does KQ use to hedge?

King as in being spend? If so, how is that better than not selling at all?

Hehehe, not really. I made away with a net +21% in the 7 months. I smell bargains as KQ negotiates with the Ksh 14 line in the sand. Read again the Bold Red above smile

Things are rough!

Auditors have raised fresh doubts over the future of Tanzania’s largest commercial airline, Precision Air, given its surging losses and liabilities while the government dithers on approving a bailout plan.

An audit report paints a gloomy picture of the loss-making firm, saying its liabilities had exceeded its assets by Tsh83.14 billion ($53 million).

It has also for several years not remitted its statutory deductions and indirect taxes to the government amounting to Tsh19 billion ($12 million) as of March 2013, says the report prepared by the airline’s auditors, Ernst & Young, and tabled at the annual general meeting on November 20.

If PW goes down then KQ will have to take the loss or writedown in 2H 2013-14
