cde calls another bank recovery.

what's the dilutive effect of the rights issue. esp on pe, eps and nav/share. don't forget the preference shares. this must be the first stock ive seen rally after announcing a rights issue. could be a good play if the post rights is not too dilutive

Indeed. NBK is a real tact one driven by the 'when & how' of events & transactions near-term as listed by @Aguy. Overall, growing earnings and a clear new direction being delivered by NBK will see it through.

i.e Earnings growth outperforming one-off expansion(s) in no. of issued shares (also assuming increased liquidity behaves on the demand/supply trading dynamics)

@mwekezaji - I was to alert you when NBK break out of the upper BB bound. Well if it closes today above 22.40, then this will be a bullish break with targets around 25 - 30.

Cheers @hisah. I notice brokers have started to turn bullish on this counter with a caution on dilution. Read what Kestrel has today written in their NBK Q3 detailed results note:

National Bank is trading at a trailing P/E ratio of 5.0x and a P/B ratio of 0.6x, below the banking sector averages of 9.3x and 2.1x respectively. Its ROE is 11.0% compared to the sector average of 21.6%. Going forward, its ongoing transformation program will improve its medium-term performance chiefly by addressing the high NPL and CTI Ratios thus making the stock attractive as current levels. National Bank plans to conduct a Rights Issue in 2014 to raise KES 10.0bn to fund regional expansion.

17 days later the breakout plays out as expected for this banking laggard. However plenty of barriers as stated by @aguy with pref shares and a heavy rights issues coming up.

interesting approach coming from the new captain. he's js building the stock through announcements without actual action. as an investor u have to like his buccaneer approach..

I remember NBK in the 70's,but the rise in the last 3 months, impressive. As these price rise one has to keep their eyes open, markets do not rise indefinitely.
