There must be a good reason why RM let him leave but Wenger has a reputation of getting the best from castaways e.g TH14 and Adebayor even Cesc was initially deemed surplus to requirements by Barca
My exact sentiments.
Ozil was not forced out, he asked to leave and had already made up his mind before Ancelloti's arrival. Real Madrid needed the money to prepare for Bale's arrival and they had just brought in ISCO so a decision was made to get rid of the German. Perez (Real President) is fond of doing that (Sneijder, Robben etc) he's the one who decided to let Ozil go not the coaching staff. The players, Fans, and even Mourinho were all shocked when it happened.....infact the fans screamed "Don't sell Ozil" when Bale was being unveiled at Santiago Bernabeu.
Madrid also wanted to include Di Maria in the Bale deal but the Argentina chose to stay. Ozil might not have defensive qualities in his game but he's probably the best attacking midfielder around.....Wenger has Arteta, Flamini, Wilshere and Ramsey who can all help in the defensive work at the centre of the pitch.
"this transfer was as much about Ozil's attitude and unwillingness to stay and fight as it was about making money for Madrid. So despite his tremendous talent, it was probably the best solution in the end. The only solution."
