Good Morning Wazuans, Wish to consult briefly. My Niece has Fanconi's Anaemia and the specialists have advised that bone marrow transplant is the only solution. I understand the process costs between 3M-5M in India. Do you know of any organization that can help the desperate family save this dear girl? I know Wazuans have lots of ideas and connections. Please help. All Ideas, advice welcome. For in him (Jesus) we live and move and have our being-Acts 17:28

No Idea. But I have your young one in My Prayer. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God..

May I ask, have you guys made a decision to do this procedure? I'm personally still young, but would advise that, your family take time and re-evaluate whether it's worth doing the procedure..(given the success rates, donor match etc).. On speaking to a doctor one day about it he told us: " How would you feel if one day, your (niece/daughter etc), is in a worse condition after a failed procedure?". Of course he never encouraged, But he said if one has to, consider US or even SA more than the India. Also note, the younger the patient, the higher chance of success. Life is joy, death is peace, but the transition is very difficult.

This will not be very popular with many: but India is cheap but however there is a sudden increase of post-operative complications of patients treated there. Their post-op care is wanting, I think coz of cheap labour and accomodation. Our hospitals right here in Nairobi give better std of post op care. Do your research thoroughly on the nursing care of the hospital you choose in India before you commit yourself. Peace in our Homeland.

Been waiting for the medical report from Daktari in KNH then we can kick start the process. Also made a check with a few hosp in India but they all wanted to see the medical report which I didn’t have.. Doc promised to have it sent via email. ( the kid was discharged yesterday from KNH). Planning committee will meet Kesho, Monday in Meru to lay down the plans and start the process proper. For in him (Jesus) we live and move and have our being-Acts 17:28

I'm a newbie and can't help but to get in with your conversation. But before that, I wish Ali's niece to get well soon and to recover in time. For me India is the one of the best place to get treatment, specially with the case of a BMT procedure because the hospitals and the doctors are expert and well qualified compared also to some western countries hospital. A lot of well-to-do people go to India for care because they can deliver very high quality treatment at a relatively low cost. My cousin had her bone marrow transplant in India at one of the best hospital with the help of a medical tourism ( http://www.placidway.com/package/1059/ ). We were so thankful that she was able to find her match and live her life again. She was able to coped by taking one day at a time and setting simple, realistic goals for herself.
