It said that bills for consumers using less than 50 units would drop by 7.9 per cent following a projected overall reduction in fuel and non-fuel costs.

“Kenya Power will benefit from the
tariff review though they did not get
everything they had asked for in
their application,” said Cyprian
Nyakundi, a manager at the Energy
Regulatory Commission.
The increments however come as bad
news for consumers, especially
industrial users whose production
costs will rise by large margins –
further eroding the competitiveness
of locally produced goods in the
regional markets.
The Business Daily on Tuesday
established that electricity prices
will rise by between 17 per cent and
25 per cent in December, eating
deeper into household budgets and
pushing up the cost of locally
manufactured goods.
