Please I said 'right thinking' not tycho's thinking-too complicated for me.
I just want us to point the finger at ourselves at times and not always at the govert.
For some curious reason I was angry when we first met yesterday, and that made me to want to pause and think some more about what we're talking about.
I can hardly say that you're not angry about FGM, cattle rustling, mob justice etc. I think you've expressed the anger only too clearly.
And I was angry because I thought you were being too harsh, and perhaps too vindictive on 'ourselves', and culture. Then I realized that 'right thinking' can hardly entail 'anger'.
And not being angry means being powerful, potent. Or does it mean 'indifference'? Thinking can never be indifferent.
So, 'right thinking' can only be about 'meeting our needs as humans' with the faith that all problems are surmountable. Right thinking is about having the faith that we work for the 'ultimate good'. Otherwise, we'd have no motivation, no life.
'Right thinking' is about 'creating'. Therefore it's about accepting what is.
Right thinking is 'right knowing'. But knowledge is a matter relationships. And 'ultimate knowledge' must be be about being in the 'ultimate relationship' with all things. Right thinking is about being one with 'God'. Being, and becoming with the 'mandate of heaven'.
When 'we' blame the 'government', are we thinking rightly? Is blaming ourselves right thinking?
Just the other day, I found myself beating a thief. It didn't end up in a lynching. But that was mob justice, no? What would you do to a man who's snatched your bag? What does shouting 'thief', mean? Well my thoughts about my thief, who happens to be a 'student' of mine led me to frightening realizations about crime and correction. One can easily say that it's not mob justice when the state kills a robber even after due process. But is that true? The government represents the mob.
Look at cattle rustling. Why do you think it's about dowry than the demand, your demand for beef?
FGM is about a certain peoples culture, isn't it important that they decide for themselves about what to do about it? Can they think for themselves? Are they engaged in right thinking? Am I thinking right about them? About myself? Is the government thinking right about the citizens?
