I have read the report and this is my take as far as circumcision is concerned in Islam.
It is not "
fard" in Islam. It is
sunnah, it is highly recommended. It is mustahab (read
'mustarabu',
'ustarabu').
It is not compulsary to circumcise in Islam.
But there are various reasons for that.
Medical doctors will tell youToday, science tells us that if a man is circumcised, he has less chances of having the cancer of the penis. If you're not circumcised, there are more chances.
Also, there are various diseases that can be prevented if a man is circumcised. In circumcission, the foreskin is removed (
simple one, there are complex processes by Maasais, Kalenjins and previously by Kikuyu ehehe). We realize that when a normal person (uncircumcised) goes for call of nature, after urinate, some urine remains (trapped) inside the foreskin. This causes various diseases that can cause hitching, that can cause some purse like substances inside, which leaves a bad smell. Many things
These are prevented if you're circumcisedAnd beyond that, when you go for call of nature, after that you use water, it prevents this even further.
Sexual ENjoymentAlso, science tell us that when a man is circumcised, he enjoys sexual life more than non-circumcised.
Furthermore, the chances of various other irritations on the skin is not there if you are circumcised.
Today, latest research tell us thata man who is circumcised has less chance of AIDS virus. The virus of HIV/AIDS can spread faster if you are not circumcised. There are various list of diseases which are prevented.
That's the reason today in AMerica more than 50% of the boys after they are born, they are circumcised. Non-Muslims! Even the CHristians in America, the doctor asks the parents do you want their son to be circumcised? And more than 50% of them are circumcised, not becuase Islam say, ut because they know it is a benefit for the son.
