Safaricom data is very expensive and does't hold. It keeps breaking off.
Which network is most reliable on data in Nairobi? I need ones I can ditch scom.

I have been on orange all the time, just try!

Been using Orange Data dongle, for almost 5years now. Can't complain. I have good reception (i'm not data hungry', so this would be for home use).

For voice, I'm still on Safaricom.

Am on Orange too for past one yr. Weekly unlimited bundle @990bob for 10gb max per week. On average i use 1gb per day or 7gb per week and about 40gb per month. And the Orange modem gives me download speeds of about 5mbps. Though i want to switch to zuku so that i can get a 8mbps connection at 3k pm.

Yes, with that kind of consumption, consider Zuku. m sure they have infrastructure in lots of places nowadays. Read the Fair Use Policy keenly. smile

Do not make that mistake @jaggernaut, Zuku 8mbps is a pipe dream, while Orange 5mbps is a frequent reality.

I bought a duos and had the 1.5 GB bundle on it. used it for normal surfing then left my phone on over the night in the morning i had 600mbs left! i knew someone was stealing stuff. I have again malizad the 1.5Gb bundle in less than a week (evening and morning browsing)... kuna wizi mahali. considering the same data bundle would last 2 weeks with exactly the same browsing habits. ama wametoa compression on their network?

From my experience if in Nairobi or Kisumu the best modem to use is the Black Orange modem. Very high speeds. Monthly 'unlimited' is Ksh. 3000. Unfortunately it doesn't work so well in other areas and so have to go back to the money sucking safaricom bundles.
