clearing at the port of MSA; the duty paid for the car manufactured may '02 and dec '02 are different? Who can tell or advice on this!!

The year of manufacture in motor industry jargon starts in July. E.g.,a car released for 2010 will be unveiled in June 2009. KRA calculates the duty using the CRMP (current retailing market price) and depreciates the same using the above-mentioned principle. You are better off importing a pre-June car in terms of duty payable. Sorry mate.

Thanks so much. However, what will happen incase one orders a vehicle from that july or August every year?

The minimum age of a car is 8 years.However at the time of arrival the month of registration should be before that time(month) otherwise if its after that month the car is deemed not to have reached 8 years.Alternatively estimate the shipping period so that the car arrives within registration month or prevoius months.Eg Its safe to bring a car registered before May.But after may there is a penalty
