True. And it doesn't make sense hata kama ni taxes since those in US, Uk etc also pay taxes.
I bought the telly at 74k and it seems to have gone down to 70k. The same model is currently selling at 63k at Amazon UK (
RINK) and 45k at Amazon US (
RINK). I think that this is quite unfair since incomes in the US and UK are much higher than Kenya while prices in Kenya are much higher. Even if the prices were uniform across the board, it would still be unfair to Kenyans due to their relatively lower incomes.
And it is the same with cars. A brand new 2014 Corolla is going for Ksh 1.4m in the US (
RINK) which is nearly the same amount kenyans are paying for a 7yr old jalopy from japan. Meanwhile Toyota Kenya is selling a brand new corolla at Ksh 3.5m. Total madness!!!
No wonder we will always remain poor coz of low incomes and inflated prices of goods.
