123 million redeemable preference shares to be issued to Total Outre Mer (TOM) with equal rights to dividends. I cant figure out the impact on future dividends and trading outlook to 2012. What is your take?

It is similar to a loan with the dividend being the interest payment. For Chevron.

So the returns(read dividends) are likely to be low in the short term.

The pref shares are only available to Total Outre Mer... The 'gains' to ordinary shareholders will come after the chevron assets start throwing off cash...
