1. Woman chief abducted early this week.
2. Kidnapper's demand ransom of 2 m
3. Family wants the Goverment to pay the ransom.
4. Family has so far paid over 80k to the 'kidnappers'
5. Family insists that the kidnappers are demanding a downpayment of 500k before 'further negotiations'.

6. The dude who earlier that day had gone to discuss a land deal with the family saw a vehicle packed outside her house at 3pm..He didn't bother to investigate because it wasn't unusual.
7. She got abducted from her house at night.
(as in was she asleep? were they drugged?)
8. Hubby called the land broker immediately after the kidnap to report about what had transpired.(phew he wasn't drugged)
9. Her kidnappers allowed her to call her husband and ask for a two million shillings ransom.

family calls for well wishers and goverment to assist in paying ransom-downpayment of 500k before further negotiations.
She is safe 'the kidnappers called to advice family on her status.

did I miss hearing 'help us track down those rascals'

The lady is a govt employee (a chief). Surely if you were kidnapped, your employer would try and do something about it.

A week? and these buggers make calls and our police and CID cannot trace them.. Seriously?!

NGO'S don't. Ask fellows working in north eastern. Giving in to ransom demands helps to encourage repeats.

Does insurance cover offered to employees cover kidnapping ama its just injury and death?

Kidnap & Ransom insurance policies typically cover the perils of kidnap, extortion, wrongful detention, and hijacking.

K&R policies are indemnity policies - they reimburse a loss incurred by the insured.

The policies do not pay ransoms on the behalf of the insured. Typically, the insured must first pay the ransom, thus incurring the loss, and then seek reimbursement under the policy.
