I dont know what your ears have heard but what i've seen has been impressive so far. what i've heard has been sounding better..... Apparently he is able to collect rates in those markets in machakos more efficiently than KRA has done with its impressive performance.... apparently, that's why he is not crying over "little money" this needs to be confirmed though. As for the work ethics, the guys work like it is a corporate body they are working for.... This, i witnessed. No government official is called to work on a Sato at 7pm and told even if he'll use the torch to do the work it has to be done that same evening.... and sure enough, the following day (sunday) at 0800hrs, the work is done.

@Wendz, The guy is doing some wonderful job especially "small" projects. No shoddy jobs.

What i've heard is on two fronts.
1. What is called "County Image".
These are young chics [mostly daughters of Alfie's campaigners & cronies]. No minimum qualification and no specified job description. They've been to Dubai, they earn more than the professionals [the people seconded to counties by central gov't] and the organisational structure puts those county image staff above the professionals. All they do,the county image staff,is clerical work.
The new road under construction to the investors grounds has issues. Opinions of the professionals don't matter and the engineers abandoned the ongoing project.

2.One-man's show. There is minimal input from the county assembly. The land's professionals were kicked out of their offices [where they were working from] and the building taken over by the county lands minister. The cold storage facility was shut down without consultation. Some county representatives were taken to SA to study farming but all they did was tour the country,no training or seminars.

I just wish all that is being said ain't true coz i had high expectations from him.
Maybe it's haters doing there thing,or it could be true.

Time will tell.

@mkeiyd... I cant tell you much about the negatives of the governor. But I can fill foolscaps after foolscaps of the good intentions of the governor...Whether the intentions will be converted to deeds/actions, I cant tell. It is too early...
...Now, let me tell you a little about the county i hail from...makueni. There the governor thought he would approach issues with an academic touch, only to meet MCAs who unlike monkeys, eat the whole banana with its peels.

The Machakos governor has commissioned a 33km road to be constructed by 11 contractors in 3 months!!! And at a cost of Ksh 650M. I think this is how we need to build roads in Kenya!!!
