Amazingly this car,Lexus RX300,is quite expensive.

Is it superior to the Nissan X-trail ?

Its way better luxury-wise.It has a magic carpet ride.you will never notice potholes it manages to rival the big daddy range rover. The auto transmission is silky smooth, you will never feel it shift but as for ngata, inapeleka kama range rover.
The utimate goal of investing is to buy low sell high;if we re-write this core equation in psychology terms it becomes buy fear sell greed.

Guys, been interested in this ride and its my next within the next coupla months.

The earlier 4WD 3000 model was expensive to maintain hence they came up with the slighty cheaper 2WD 24OO model.

I did have a look at a few at the bazaar, some car yards in Hurlingham/Ngong Rd,some web sites like that one for Nation and was not amused by the margins those guys are charging.

I would suggest you bring it in on your own rather than buying from these dealers,as the margin they charge is just too high (I estimate anything between 500-800k). I estimate u can bring it in comfortably with 1.7m.

RX300 is certainly a cut above an X-trail
Lexus RX300.(Europe/US) .is a Toyota Harrier (Japan Domestic Mkt)
In many cases Harrier interior cabin trim appears cheap as compared to RX300.
RX300 (3.0L) 2003 model Ex-UK will set you back 850k - 1m CIF.
Nissan X-Trail (2.5L) 2003 good specs approx. 650k CIF.

Considering you may have to import a 2003 (or later) model, I am not sure you will get a clean RX300 anywhere near 500k mark.

so which is which...?

@la jangwa - Duty on an X-Trail 2003 approx. 380k- 550k (similar in duty to a Rav 4) depending on specs
Current retail value (mpya) of an X-Trl is 3.6m (2.0L) and 4.4m (2.5L)SE model. (I stand to be collected)

Tabulations of duty by depreciation / % are done from retail value... see KRA website and also previous post here.... do a search 'Duty' or similar.

@Kamaa see earlier post Lexus RX300 (sold in Europe) = Toyota Harrier ('Japanzee' Domestic Market)
The toyota Harrier and the lexus RX300 is actually the same car ..and they are made in the same factory... but for different markets
Lexus RX300 only comes with 3.0cc V6
If its a 2.2 or 2.4.. it is probably a Harrier.
Harrier has a small extra side mirror in the front left beside bonet..

some car dealers rebadge a Toyota Harrier to a Lexus RX330 and make
a buyer believe it is a Lexus rather than a Toyota
So check the extra mirror and the badge on the streering wheel
Harriers also have the word 'TOYOTA' print on the window/s.

Lexus being the high-end Toyota division,it's cars are more expensive 7 superior to your normal Nissan. You can only match them with Nissan's high-end version. Infiniti. Harrier being domestic[Japan],it carries less extras than the predominantly for-export Lexus, since 1989.
