Munari Sandro and Lofty Drews and of course there was Shiyukah's co-driver,the then RV roads engineer and millionaire businessman Kim Gatende.....Maybe i'll ever remember Joginder for his courage to take the rally with a DT Dobie Merc 280 alongside Vic Preston Junior in the late 70's.A rarity in rally shows then except from experienced rally drivers from Europe such as Bjorn Waldegard and Hannu Mikolla,who preffered the much more powerful Merc 450......RIP

This used to be the time when we would line the roads and wait for Safari rally cars to zoom past.
There were two Kenyans, Peter Mukundi and Njathi who would keep us waiting more than 2hrs after the 1st car had zoomed off.
Actually, the Winners would be splashing champagne at KICC as we waited for the duo.

One poorly kept secret was that Jonathan Moi was always described as a "renowned rally driver" yet nobody would tell you that he never completed any race. Always retiring long before the final leg.
