Marriage is politics by other means, and what we have is a political debate where heaven must come to earth.
Tycho you have a way with words.Very interesting, do you mean to say that heaven must compromise, lower standards to accomodate realities of our earthly living or? Yes, @Kysse. That makes humans to raise their standards in effect.

That makes humans to raise their standards in effect. You can reason with God but He will not lower His standard to accomodate the world you know? He is not asking us to rise up and live as per the heavenly standards, but to ackowledge his Grace in times of weakness all the days of our lives. That gives meaning to the work of the cross.-don't misinterprete this. I therefore think that heaven and earth have met.

I therefore think that heaven and earth have met. When you consider that faith without works is dead, then the cross becomes the point where 'heaven and earth' meet, and where in effect, the 'earth' is overcome. Such that those who die on the cross die, ressurect, and 'ascend'. When Man is talking about 'God', he is basically talking about himself; a higher cognition of himself that he can only be if he abandons selfish desire that more often than not, a consequence of ignorance. It's always expected that knowledge and wisdom should change living conditions, and experiences and offer a world that offers truth, order, purpose and power. Think about the prophets, even those from the East, or Africa. What did they say? How close were they to describing God's standards? How were these standards interpreted? How righteous were these prophets? Moses was a killer, Jacob a liar and thief, Abraham a cowardly liar. 'Buddha' a rebel. How could God deal with such people, without 'descending'?

Allow me to rephrase. If a man abandons selfish desires,he turns into a higher cognition of himself that equal to God?
It's perfectly normal to desire, after all we are emotional beings. Man avoids fulfilling evil desires by walking in the spirit, but it doesn't make him equal to God.
Walking in spirit helps man perform God's work and fulfill His purpose through him but he remains God's creature. Lucifer attempted to take this place you are talking about and see the wahala he caused.
It's always expected that knowledge and wisdom should change living conditions, and experiences and offer a world that offers truth, order, purpose and power. The world has its own master tycho. Unfortunately he is not the author of truth, wisdom, order, power or purpose. He is the author of confusion and all things evil.
Think about the prophets, even those from the East, or Africa. What did they say? doom How close were they to describing God's standards? How were these standards interpreted? It doesn't matter. The standards are defined in the scriptures and anything short of that is fallacy/heresy. Doesn't matter if the prophet has beard longer than a tail and doesn't wash or brush teeth.
How righteous were these prophets? Moses was a killer, Jacob a liar and thief, Abraham a cowardly liar. 'Buddha' a rebel. ok where is buddha coming in now?How could God deal with such people, without 'descending'? He gave them the law and the law judged them.God only descended once and for all when He walked and died on the cross. That is when he took on the human nature and sin.He left us with a helper and the word to guide us. We either conform or perish. No compromise only grace abounds.

Kysse, I must have forgotten that we were limiting this discussion to 'Christianity'. That's how Buddha crept in. Sorry.
So, you say God came once and for all, probably 2000 years ago? And never to return? Or at least dwell with Man?

Never to return= No,there's a second coming. Him lowering standards =no,you can reason with Him though. And No you are not Him. you are tycho.

The book of Revelation and Daniel. They talk about rapture and the events that will take place prior to His second coming.
