Was going through this months' Msafiri, and I saw the article titled as above..
QUOTE:"Investors in Amboseli Ecosystem will have to wait until march 2014 before getting licenses to construct hotels. NEMA said no New developments or projects will be licensed to operate in the area until the Amboseli Ecosystem Mgt plan is completed and gazetted. The area covers approx 5700sq km, covering the area between Mt. Kilimanjaro, Chyulu Hills, Tsavo West National park and the Kenya/Tanzania Border. It is a fragile ecosystem that is internationally recognized as a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Biosphere Reserve because of the ecosystem’s significance as an example of an area that fulfills conservation, research and development functions. The Amboseli ecosystem has been under siege from rising population, haphazard developments. This has resulted in diminishing wildlife and wildlife migratory routes and dispersal areas being chocked."
On doing a check on
NEMA WEBSITE HERE, I find the article but not dated.. My questions:
1. I have been following up on an Offer along Amboseli Rd, but much earlier on. 7KM from Namanga-Athi Rd. Almost starting Legal.. Is it safe to continue?
2. How big would be the 5700sq km? m sure we have people who know the place better, and can comprehend this sq km area
3. Any other General information regarding this moratorium which may be of help to potential investors.
