With his staff management skills, he will be recalled before the 1 term is over

Does this imply the recomm should read "SELL"?

With hand-picked HoDs by board members [if that is true], then we have a "civil-servant" kind of performance in the making.

May be the guy who said KCB will be overtaken by Coop in 3 years' time was right.

KCB provided almost half of the ksh.21.7 billion loan to expand the cement factory.
It is also in the consortium with Barclays for the ksh.6.6 billion for the roofing sheets plan

In banking, most management level positions are normally about stakeholder management making them 70% political offices 30% work. What makes a good bank is the team assembled below and i can tell you for a fact that the team he's assembling will be a lethal one in delivery. The problem he's facing is from the current teams that had entrenched themselves within the structure but were not performing. He has actually gone for the best in terms of proven track records from other banks in performance especially in mid level management and given his top boys what they need to deliver.
In short, this guy is going to definitely deliver and while at it change a lot within banking.

Kenya's KCB to grow in South Sudan with VISA, more branches

Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) , the biggest bank in South Sudan, plans to grow by launching the first credit card service in the young African country and adding more branches, executives told Reuters.

KCB has won a licence from VISA Inc to launch credit cards in South Sudan, a war-torn country where few people have a bank account, the executives said.

.............................................................................................................................................

KCB now has a market share of 42 percent serving 138,000 customers, Rebecca Likami, deputy managing director of KCB in South Sudan, said in an interview.

Between March to June 2014 the projected prices
are :-
- KCB at 60 bob
- Panafric at 90 bob
- Equity at 50 bob
- safaricom at 15 bob

Factor in brokers commission. For a long termer like
me I would have still pitched my tent with KCB OR
sale half to position on any other one listed
or what others mid caps CFC Stanbic, Coop etc
I personally prefer market leaders and blue chip stocks with high dividend yield so that while waiting I am still compensated with good dividend.
That is me. Everything depends on you.

I always pick 1st or second best in a sector and nothing more.

7 weeks ago I sold about 30% of my KCB holding.
This was my first buy in 2004 at 4.5 bob (Pre 10: 1 split 45 bob) at 45 bob a whooping 1000% return in 9 years. I used the proceeds to position in Safaricom at 6.90 bob. No regret at all.

Both KCB and Safaricom are growing, though there is a tendency on the short term for
Safaricom to grow faster than KCB due to :-
- Low instrinsic value 9.4 Vs 49
- Monopoly Safcom is a lone ranger, KCB is
competing with equity, coop etc
- Foreigners appetite. Foreigners are madly in love with Safaricom due to its liquidity and good dividend expectation.

By foreigners I am referring to foreign institutional investors whose huge demand can cause positive price change not small ant like me.

How is M-benki different from the one from CBA and the other one from Equity? The King here remains Safaricom
