The fear surrounding safcom disappeared when its competitors became "living dead".

Very nice subject to analyse and discuss in a management class, what business lessons can we draw from the demise of Safaricom competition. Was Safaricom too good in their strategy, did the competition misread the market etc.

I dont know if its in this thread or another where I told u that Safaricoms competition is not the telco's but EABL and banks...Its aim is to convince Kenians to buy credit, send/save money and paybills using them eabl's competition is not keroche but to convince you not to buy units and send/save money but to have a beer and enjoy life...they wont mind how yu pay the bill.

The scramble of the Kenian shilling

On this day,Safaricom touches a high of 9 shillings, money still being made and maybe some getting into the slaughter house.

On the flip side, others will regret not joining the bus on 9 or sub 9 bob when Safaricom will print 15 mid next year.
Things are looking up for Safaricom, there is room to grow.

@young, how do you arrive at the Target Price of 15?

If 8.50 is broken down, 9 will be tested. And it has come to be. The breakout above 7.50 a multi yr resistance level, was very significant. I'm still amazed that mpesa bank is above 7.50 in 2013. Never saw it coming this soon. Currently the extension points towards 9.80 - 10 level. Crazy d'oh!
$15/barrel oil... The commodities lehman moment arrives as well as Sovereign debt volcano!

Foreigners just keep buying this thing because of Liquidity...overall SCOM is a cash cow but current valuations are too expensive for me...I rather buy MTN...MTN is most likely going to grow faster than SCOM over the next 5 yrs....if you have nerves of steal...there is Econet in Zimbabwe.

Quite confounding this safari.
The stock continues powering on since Friday 13th September when it closed its dividend books!
