@a4, is it also true to say that the Westgate design is hard to prevent suicidal terrorists but easy to stop normal robbery because it's open and has few exits?

BBI will solve it

@2012,contrary to popular opinion, a more open building design helps thwart all sorts of crime as shown in various researches done previously eg this below

@washiku, thanks for your concern and phone call....
From the type of destruction, westgate will need to be completely demolished and rebuilt. The building was 4 levels. They now have a chance to do 8 to 10 floors.
@nostoppinthis..hidden secret rooms can be added to already built houses. All you need is creativity in building new wardrobe type walls inside the rooms.

@mukiri. Best way for such info to get to developers is for all Kenyans to insist that buildings are done by registered architects i.e reduce usage of quacks. For example, when i did my thesis on same topic in 2001, i shared it with several other architects so they also have the same info which am sure they shared with other architects and clients.

To show the idiotic terrorists the middle finger, the Westgate mall should be rebuilt and be made more magnificent.

Will inclusion of one social floor with a Mosque, a Temple and Multipurpose prayer room help terrosits rethink attacking such malls?

While appreciating what the Americans did in converting the former site of the American Embassy buidling to a memorial park, methinks that was not a very good idea. Most victims are not really benefiting from this initiative.

That site is prime land whether a modern multi-storey complex could have been built and managed by a trust and the proceeds used tio cater for the families and depandants. one floor could be converted to a memorial hall ...

The Junction mall with the fort like design seems an easy target for these terrorists.
