Chase Bank targets maize farmers with low-interest loans

Apart from Chase Bank, Equity and Co-operative banks have also launched the product while the Kenya Commercial Bank and K-Rep are expected to join the scheme.

Closely watching the VAT drama - http://www.businessdaily...0/-/nw4ymc/-/index.html

If inflation spikes sustain 3 months in a row I expect the market to start feeling that pressure as well as that siasa house.
$15/barrel oil... The commodities lehman moment arrives as well as Sovereign debt volcano!

Daktari, don't believe the tale that taxation is bad...no...if we produce what we consume...the economy will grow. If we pay our taxes and these taxes go towards service delivery then we're good. I await to see if these irrigation projects take off and if our cereals board will buy the grains.

I do not believe taxation is bad, no sir. I'd rather we financed our expenditure using our own internally generated resources. My main worry though is that by taxing our farming inputs (be they fertilizers, seeds, livestock feeds, machinery, etc) it makes that much mo difficult, in the immediate short to medium term, for the average farmer to invest his resources to expand his production output. Ni hayo tu.smile

Is there such plan/mechanism?
How will it work?

How do you identify and reach millions of farmers scattered throughout Kenya? The cost?
