I read from Autozine that you can achieve 17km/L on a 1500cc Mitsubishi cedia.Could this be true?If so then my KAQ 110 is up for sales.This cedia is my next small-efficient machine.

That's the usual highway consumption for a well maintained non-GDI 1500cc Lancer. The things to insists on is that nobody tampers with your fuel sensors,and that right spark plugs are inside; Also never use adulterated fuel-if travelling out of town fill up in Nairobi and if you have to do it again in shags,you will be safest at a National Oil petrol stations which are fairly widely distributed around the country. If you lend your car out to a friend,ensure you brief her before parting with your keys. The recommended plugs are;
DENSO K16PR-U11,NGK BKR5E-11,NGK irriidium IX BKR5EIX-11 or BKR6EIX-11 (for cold locations/season); the latter two will cost you about 4,500 to 5,000 bob but will run for 20,000km.
So for a Lancer CEDIA,which is powered by a GDI engine,17km/litre (on the lower side) is more than possible-It is expected. Go for it If you have the choice,go for the 4G15 series.
Besides fuel,the Cedia it will give you more comfort,a much smoother and powerful road handling than that other KAQ. And the jackers all reason like kabs so none will be interested in your car.

Can we have some constructive discussion here.@Meow wanted to get the facts straight not hatred as shown by kabz .@kabz do u mean a lancer GDI will always brake down in a bush while an NZE will not?By the way what km/l can a1500cc NZE x grade achieve? Which is more dirty,the pig or Kenyan mp? Portfolio: Sold You know you've made it when you get a parking space for your yatcht.

@impunity,I hav laid my facts bare. Does ua post benefit anyone? Ama u r allergic to the truth? I still havent found anyone convincing enuff of how gud these 'hitech' cars are! Back to my point,my humble guess is the electronic fuel metering and numerous sensors pose a serious challenge to any mech. Meanwhile,any other recomendations? That guy is at wits end. 2day,another one stalled on juja rd kwa jam,a fairly new car. If u hav a survival secret with a gdi,then share it,na ubarikiwe! The GDI engine is high performance,not exactly 'hitech'. It is only that many of the mechanics we run to for service e.t.c do not understands them.
The best advice is to avoid instances where you have a breakdown which gives the mechanics a ground for trial and error. This you can do by ensuring right plugs and unadulterated fuel (not necessarily V-Power). Avoid engine washes at all costs. Regular service including change (not blowing) of air filter is needed. If you have to exceed the 5,000km interval,let the extra km be those you count on your journey to the garage.
If the engine has a problem (very rare just like for most maintained cars),insist on coumputer aided diagnostics. Unfortunately,I do not know of any person doing this apart from Lion Colt. And while at it,why not befriend the mechanics at this place?

My 2 cents.
Cedia performs well like any other VVti Engine. No miracles from it. But stability of Cedia is superior to that of most 1500 toyotas. The only problem with Cedia is offroad. Also the Rear suspension is a bit weak so not good for weights.
Apart from that its a very Superior Car.

guys,
i must be very green in this,but how do you keep a car well maintained without washing the engine? i have a d4 engine and i understand it is similar to GDI so i would be very interested.
....and while at that,maybe someone will have an idea about this....if i drive for about 20kms at over 70 and then reach very slow/standstill traffic,the idling sometimes feels jerky even in neutral..you know like when you release the clutch too fast in a manual car. this does not happen when driving beyond mtito (towards nairobi) so i assume it is related to altitude. i am hesistant (or more correctly stingy) to pay 6k for the computer diagnostic. no warning lights on panel. should i stop being such a mkono gum? please advise. asante sana

@ nyari,Kwani your car does not have a bonnet?
I have used my car almost every for three years without ever washing the engine and it is very clean- The only cleaning is the wipe by my mechanic after oil change to get rid of the spill. or you are the kind of people who want to race like Safari Rally drivers in mud.
If you insist,wash it and I dont believe your d4 (Premio or Rav 4?) can come near the GDI in terms of comparison.
For the juddering of your car on hills,if its an autiomatic,the likely place to check is the gearbox. Could even be a loose panel but at the worst could be a slow knock.
But because you want to save say 3-5K on diagnostic,choose the one which sounds best to your ears and wish you luck.

@ spendthrift,
You must be replying to someone elses thread.
In a previous thread (my first car) I'd intimated that I was importing a Cedia st. wagon for Wify as a surprise but she had changed her mind after talking about a cedia for 3 months. She's finally settled for a golf which I got her on sunday,that's why I'm dispossing the cedia. It's a damn fast car and I drove it myself from coast and I was beating fielders hands down...
Anyone intrested email me as below

@spendthrift,
Thanks for the info. could you give a little more detail....what is a 'loose panel' ...and 'slow knock'? can an electronic diagnosis detect a problem in the gearbox especially when no warning lights appear on the dash? how come when i drive in nairobi and environs there is no juddering? the problem occurs only in coast.
