I watched a show on bbc the other day, where a British family went to live in Germany for 2wks to find out why it is that the German economy is what it is even in the midst of all the recession. They came out quite surprised by the fact that for instance, most Germans prefer to rent their dwellings rather than buy as is common in the u.k and therefore are able to avoid the attendant mortgages, etc.
