I have been fascinated and interested in owning a hybrid car (TOYATA PRIUS 2ND GEN), and in view of the ever increasing fuel price I am more convinced its the right way to go. However, many friends including a few mechanics are averse to this venture. Arguing it cannot handle the african terrain, while others argue reliability, support and maintenance issues. The arguements have not been factual so far and would like the opinion of someone who has owned one or had first/second hand experience in owning/driving one on our Kenyan road.
Your input will be highly appreciated.

Type PRIUS or HYBRID CARS in the wazua search and you will get enough threads on this topic, most "newfallas" smile make the mistake you are making and assume we are snobs, please so do me a favor and pass the advice to the next "hello" that comes posting a previous, discussed topic and advice them to search wazua first, then they (you) can add a comment, for example go to the following thread from a search of prius amongst many others discussing hybrids

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God..
