If one gave birth through normal delivery,she is back in shape after 3 weeks.
If an episiotomy was done,should heal by the end of one month.
For CS (depends on how careful you are) can take up to six months to heal
As for sex afterwards,i beg to disagree with Mantis,this is different for every individual,and agree that courtesy of the hormones which work differently for everyone,some do enjoy sex more afterwards,some enjoy less.
Unfortunately some ladies dont enjoy sex afterwards,due to the demands of the newborn baby (when women give birth,they almost forget there is a man who needs attention,over 50% of their attention goes to the baby),and also most ladies dont get back in shape,hence the men dont exactly find them as sexy as before.
Ladies are advised to exercise more afterbirth,especially the Kegel(pelvic) exercises,make sure hygiene is maintained (there is no way a man is going to stay in a hse stinking colostrum,just shower after every feeding!)
As for alternatives for sex apart from penetration,oral sex and Side B if you are daring enough!
