From observation, there are two types of IDPs.Those who had shambas and those who were in "shopping centres"

Those with shambas majority went back. Those of shopping centre are the ones who are still in camps and this might be a good opportunity for them to buy a piece of land.

If they come together in an organised manner they can get some few acres of land and built some estate while they till the bigger land for food.

Looking at the issue positively.
Love is beautiful and so are those who share it.With Love, Marriage is an amazing event in ones life time, the foundation of joy, happiness and success.

And are they being paid 400K per person!
d'oh! d'oh!

I think per household, to go buy a piece of land at a place of their choice.

Will they get any land in Central? And who will accept them in Rift Valley?
These cash will be gobbled yote and they will head back to the camps by the roadsides now and then cry serikali saidia sisi iko mbaya saidi!

Lolsmile The initial approach where the govt was buying land for IDP started being difficult because speculators would hike the prices since its the "govt" buying, some communities had issues with the people being settled on "their ancestral land"(Remember the Narok saga?)...It was being recommended, even here in Wazua, cant remember the specific threads, that the govt shud give those IDPs the money they go and buy from areas of their choice. Maybe that is the logic that brought it to this approach. Well, I hope it works, otherwise nobody should be living in those camps 6 years later...

We will see...but 400K is so much money for a 50 year old man who has never handled 20K for the rest of his life.
That is a lump-sum suicide!

Na niulize, didn't the IDP's had their own homes where they were evicted. Why they can't go back ?? Who is still occupying their original homes

This is not a laughing matter and the Modern Coast bus which had an accident had about a dozen call girls who were headed to the Rift valley from Coasto in order to share the spoil...

These people normally come to your place and set residence in your shopping area/market!
They usually dont have any family left behind and even if they had normally they have NO intention of ever meeting the kins left behind. Some of them are usually excommunicated from the village so cant dare go back there.

ION: They are very opportunistic and would rather spend 6 years in cold IDP camps knowing very well that come the time, 400K will be in their pocket! Very business minded.

Glad to hear that this TRUE comment came from your own mouth.
Mbesha ni mbesha...otherwise all the Luo,Kisii and Luhya IDPs from Naxs, Naibacha and Molo had since retired to their ancestral lands.

Case in point, that IDP-Luo whose entire family of 9 was decimated, he went straight to ancestral home in Homabay county, married and moved on...lakini wengine ni mbesha bin mbesha till we die!

ISOKEI.
