True,it was more positive.

We could change the subject everytime or better yet start up a rival blog with all the perks we've always wished for

lowering duty on luxury items (spirits,cosmetics,jewelery) - aimed at promoting consumerism and I thinks he is abt to unleash a big tax hammer on corporates. Zero VAT on bicycles.

The problem with equality is that we desire that it be with those that have more than us rather that those that have less

I see RAO woke up in time for the concluding remarks. A very commendable 5 minutes of attention to issues of national importance...

The entire budget makes the heading of this post totally irrelevant.Can Jupiter edit it or we start another............At a glance,it's people friendly.

For the first time a budget has been made that addresses the needs of the people. I like the idea of every constituency being allocated a utility.

A health facility and a secondary school is a good start. Next year we should see more; a police station,a court house,a polytechnic etc. Thats the way communities develop.

God work Mr. Uhuru,you took the punches for the 9B error,so now enjoy bonquets for a thoughtfull people oriented budget.

I guess if you can't win with facts,you can always pen bile-laced,xenophobic rants to distract everyone.

@Obi,

Agreed.......Fine budget but it requires a thorough follow-up especially by our MPigs,otherwise most of the proposals will remain just that.....!!

Its an aspirational rather than a good budget. It aspires to:

Cut spend by reducing car sizes,furtniture spend et al. It'll mean new ones have to be boyught and old ones probably kept in some basements. Who is going to monitor the other spending cuts? The same accoutning officers that have been signing off ridiculous imprests?
CDF- How many CDFs do you know that are not functioning for one reason or the other? Isn't the issue that CDFs are being mismanaged and hence money is not being well spent. Where its spent,the change in MPS kills most of those projects. Wintess the bs in Mathira as a classsic example
Budget deficit is actually closer to Ksh300bn and not Ksh169bn as quoted in the press. Will KRA deliver? Will external grants come in?

Generally,the budget was good but was disappointed by failure to rein in on recurrent expenditure with such a huge deficit. It is depressing to see wasteful spending in ministries e.g. motor vehicles,unnecessary travel abroad,allowances,workshops,office refurbishments etc.

Making good budget proposals is the easy part. I will reserve my verdict after implementation.
