Hi,just got a 1.5 GDI lancer.Simbacolt cliam that they don't service such imports.(this is thehe same engine in the new lancers).
who has the contacts for a dependable garage?

Auto Express (good if you are always on the move because they have branches in NBI,MSA,KSM and NKU),or Madaraka Auto Works (somewhat hidden garage on your left From Langata side) just before the foot bridge).

Advice,Never let any fool tamper with the fuel sensors. That will be the beginning of hell with your fine piece of automobile.

Wachana na hii LionColt or better still,you could talk to one of the employed mechs there and he could be servicing your car on the sides. These dealers are not good because they prefer to concentrate of replacing parts rather than repairing your cars. With them any slight problem,the advice will be you need a new blah,blah blah. Let them service GK and corporate pajeros after which they give invoices of sometimes 150K claiming they have to import parts

@Spendthrift.

Whats the deal with fuel sensors. I've got my Volvo (V 40) messed up and the guys at Amazon dont even have a replacement. They have to import one from Sweden which will take ages. Know of a place I can get one pretty quick.

some Volvo S/V40s share the same mitsubishi GDi engines but higher capacity.Built around 2000-2002 JV with MMC before Ford took over.

Guys,the world is now a global village.

I had a pal struggling with an oxygen sensor for his Opel Astra. GM asking for 15K! I directed him to eBay,we got it for 3k,posting here costs next to nothing.....why struggle?

@Iganamagana,try that method. With your car,I'd never go to amazon,maybe only for expert fitting. Order the volvo parts on eBay. Find a shop and stick with them for all your volvo parts,everything you order,you can have here in 3 days. It will cost you about 20% of the cost quoted by the local dealer.

If u fear e-Commerce,zidi kutajirisha colt,amazo,gm,cmc,etc....

I have tried this route with a lot of success before. I had a friend buy me parts in Texas and ship them UPS though for a different car. In this case however,the part requires specialist instalation (you cant mess with sensors) and Amazon dont accept parts from outside (and they are damn expensive). If only I could get a workshop that has a specialist. I will try Autoexpress and see the outcome.

The trick is not the purchase of oxygen sensors but fitting them.Most engines that have them require software tools to ensure that they run properly.i.e. that why some forester owners have problems i.e. fitment without electronic resetting.

I SPOT A NICHE IN CAR SERVICING IN NAIROBI.If someone could do proper computer diagnostics cheaply he has a captive market.

Wow... thanks for the information about ebay....

I have seen some pajero cars written GDI club...

Is there a GDI club in Kenya..

I hope there is one... and if there is not we can share contacts and set up a GDI club to help us get spares, good service...

While my Cedia Lancer gives good service at between long service intermissions... i am scared of leaving the mechanic with it, so in a clear departure from the past, where they could pick the car and go service it.. nowadays i buy my own spares then go baby-sit them while they fit them... you can tell that it does not amuse them one single bit...
