On a similar note kindly advice
I have a friend with some BAT shares held under old certificate. He urgently needs cash and is not willing to wait for Shares 'immobilization' and have them deposited to his cds for resale and I understand the process takes approx 3months.
He needs cash which I can give and then he surrenders the certificate for normal transfer to my names. Price he's selling to me is very discounted .. any advise welcome.

@mypesa, transfer of the share certificates to your name may not be possible. Any transaction you do with the person can only be on a gentlemans agreement that once the shares are immobilized in his name he will sell them and and give you the sales proceeds.

I agree the condition of having an account with them is outrageous. However, this condition was set out during the initial offer where one was required to open an account with them to be able to purchase. This implies all current shareholders have an account with them.
